The Commerce Bank bell was the 4th Be Well bell to enter the community, unveiled in April of 2022. This bell is displayed in the lobby of Commerce Bank in Springfield, MO.

Sarah Gatewood

When I created my bell I knew I wanted it to be representative of my favorite types of paintings I create. I might have a slight plan in mind based on color, but even then, I leave that open to how I'm feeling in the moment. I paint this way because it's freeing. It helps me enter a state of mind that allows me to relax and truly enjoy myself. I think that it's so important for our mental health to have a type of escape that not only encourages relaxation and growth, but also creativity. I love it when my emotions can stream onto the canvas through spontaneous brush strokes and flowing drips of paint to create an expressive piece of art. I want my bell to be a great reminder that our minds are a colorful space and by themselves are a work of art.
